Brian Head, Utah offers residents and visitors a lovely, well-maintained park for everyone in the family to enjoy.
During the summer months, Bristlecone Park is the ideal spot to go for a picnic. There’s a covered pavilion with bunches of picnic tables available, some of which are child-sized. There are barbecues and fire rings available for grilling meals and toasting marshmallows. Brian Head Town stocks the park with firewood, so be sure to bring your marshmallows and s’mores ingredients.
If the kids need to burn off some steam, take them to the playground to have fun swinging, sliding, climbing on the jungle gym and digging in the sand with pails and shovels (you’ll need to bring those, as sandbox toys are just about the only thing not provided by the park). There’s a paved area featuring facilities for basketball, tether ball and paddle tennis. When the park is open during the summer months, the town makes basketballs and an assortment of other balls available for visitors to the park.
There’s also a lovely lake stocked with fish. A boat ramp is available for launching small craft, so feel free to bring your kayaks. The pond is also a fun spot for paddle boarding.
Local weather conditions will dictate whether it’s practical to use the park facilities at any given time. During the winter months, expect the lake to be frozen and the playground facilities to be buried under snow. It also isn’t unusual for Brian Head to get snow in the spring and fall. You might or might not be able to use the park facilities at those times, depending on the weather. The park is typically usable from June through September — and sometimes well into November. It might be usable in the months preceding June, depending on how fast the snow is melting off at the time of your visit.
