Melting Snow Has Created a Gushing River Down the Mountain in Brian Head, Utah

As of a few days ago, summer has officially begun. Here in Brian Head, Utah, it feels like we just barely got started with spring. The daytime temperatures are warming up beautifully, although I don’t think anybody would use the word “hot” to describe the situation (certainly not those of you arriving from Vegas and California!) Enough snow is melting off the mountain to cause a gushing river. The trees now have their leaves, and the birds have returned from their winter’s journey south. Bristlecone Park has been usable for a little less than 2 weeks now.

It's officially summertime, but we still have some snowpack here in the mountains of Utah. The trees sprouted leaves, the birds have returned and our days are getting warmer. This is a beautiful time to visit Brian Head Town.

Many of the trails up on the mountain are still too snowy, wet and / or muddy for comfortable mountain biking at this point (maybe some of you who are really hardcore could handle it…but, do be aware the lifts aren’t open yet). I think we’re looking at early July before the lifts will open for mountain biking.

In the meanwhile, there’s still plenty to do up here on the mountain. For starters, try hiking or ATVing any time you’re in the area. Come and enjoy a picnic and a day of fishing or kayaking at Bristlecone Pond. There will also be limited opportunities to go ziplining on selected days. The resort will be open for ziplining the weekend of June 29th and 30th, and then again on July 4th – 7th. They’re also planning to open the climbing wall and bungee trampoline on these dates.

Bristlecone Pond is one of the highlights of Brian Head, Utah's lovely Bristlecone Park. At the pond, you can go fishing, boating, paddleboarding or kayaking. Your group can take bring lunch or dinner to the pond and enjoy the picnic facilities.
